At Cambridge House, our countryside guest house, Reeth in Swaledale, our award winning breakfasts are cooked to order using fresh produce from local producers and suppliers.
As winners of the Deliciously Yorkshire Taste Awards 'Best Yorkshire Breakfast' in 2016 and 2017, you can see that we take food seriously!
Your breakfast supports Swaledale, Wensleydale and other Yorkshire producers and suppliers. So while you enjoy your breakfast, you are contributing to the local economy either directly from local produce or by buying products from local suppliers. Every item on your breakfast menu has been carefully selected for quality, locality and environmental impact. We also support Fair Trade products and aim to keep our food miles to a minimum wherever possible.
You can chose from our extensive breakfast menu which offers vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy free options. As a lot of produce is seasonal, we like to change our menu to make the most of what is currently available.
Our suppliers and producers include Campbells of Leyburn; Wensleydale eggs; Dales Dairies, Grassington; Wensleydale Creameries; Yockenthwaite Farm, Skipton; Carricks of Bedale; Longley Farm Holmfirth, West Yorkshire; Swaledale Cheese Company, Richmond; Taylors of Harrogate teas and York Coffee Emporium, York.
Jams, curds and marmalade are made by Sheila including her Dalemain World's Original Marmalade Awards 2018 & 2019 marmalades!
Breakfast breads are all homemade.
Just to give you an idea of our award winning breakfast, here are some examples from our breakfast menu but we do like to make adjustments to make use of seasonal produce:
Fruit juices, Yockenthwaite muesli, Yockenthwaite Granola, assorted cereals, natural organic yogurt, berry or dried fruit compote. Gluten free cereals and porridge are available.

Grilled dry cured bacon, sausage, black pudding, vine tomato and field mushroom; Heinz baked beans and a poached, scrambled or fried egg.

Grilled vegetarian sausages, field mushroom and vine tomato; Heinz baked beans and a poached, scrambled or fried egg.
Yorkshire Rarebit or Buck Rarebit with Swaledale Cheese
Kipper Fillets with or without poached eggs
Scrambled, poached or boiled eggs
Homemade white, wholemeal or speciality bread or toast (gluten free bread is available)
Served with a selection of home made jams, marmalade, lemon curd and Yorkshire honey.
A selection of teas or fresh coffee
Select from Yorkshire tea, Earl Grey, or various herbal teas; York Coffee Emporium coffee. Decaffeinated options are also available.
We want all our guests to feel completely comfortable during their stay with us, and this includes ensuring that special dietary requirements are catered for. We offer gluten free, lactose free, vegetarian and vegan options wherever we can.
Whilst we take every precaution, we regret that we cannot guarantee that food prepared in our kitchen is free from nuts. Please inform us if you have a specific food allergy as we can supply a list of the key food allergens which occur in your food.
